On display January 19 through April 12, 2024
M.J. Larkins and his wife Eva moved to Wyoming in 1905. They purchased a mule team and headed out from the train depot in Garland, Wyoming to a town called Worland. After two days of traveling they met a gentleman along the road and M.J. asked him how much further it was to their destination. The man grinned and replied, “Man, you’re here; this is Worland”. One can imagine the dismay with which the young couple looked around at the three or four small houses, a building dug back into the bank that served as a business place, and a scattering of tents. But, since this was their new home, the couple pitched their tent and made the best of things.
Worland Works is the story of the people who lived in Worland during its early days, who picked up their tools, went to work, and made the best of things.
Their efforts live on in the photographs, artifacts, and stories highlighted in this exhibit, and in the bustling community that is Worland today.
