WESTERN TROUBADOURS CONCERT
John Lowell has been performing in the Mountain West for more than 40 years. He's toured the world with his bands Kane's River, Wheel Hoss, Deep River, Growling Old Men, and the John Lowell Band. He spent his early years in Montana as a working cowboy and has a love or stories about the American West. John is a triple threat - songwriter, singer and guitarist, and his smooth voice is featured on many albums. His most recent recording, "She's Leaving Cheyenne' was nominated for four awards by the International Western Music Association, was named Album of the Year by Wyoming Public Radio, and won "Working Cowboy Song or the Year" for his song "Angus MacKenzie.' In 2021 John won the Grand Prize in the Hazel Dickens Songwriting Contest. His album has been in the top ten of the Western Chart for over 18 months.
For the past 40 years, Randy Rieman has immersed himself in the cowboy culture of the American West. He spent his early career cowboying for cow-calf ranches, stocker operations, and grazing associations in several western states. About 30 years ago, he began starting colts for big ranches and the public which led to him specializing in helping people develop their horse skills. All the while, Randy has been a perennial favorite at cowboy poetry and music gatherings at home and abroad, including being a featured performer at the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, Nevada for 36 consecutive years. In 1995, he was one or four Western poets invited on a 15-city tour or England and Wales to celebrate the UK's Year or Literature. He is considered one of the finest reciters or classic Cowboy Poetry from the American West and traditional Bush Poetry from Australia. In addition to being a lover or the spoken word, he's a pretty fair hand with a flat top guitar.
