On February 1 at 12:00 p.m. Senator Al Simpson and Author Donald Hardy be at the Museum to present their public program and hold a signing of Shooting from the Lip, an authorized biography of Senator Al Simpson.  Al Simpson served as a U.S. Senator from 1979 to 1997.

About the Author: After his family moved from his Montana birthplace to Wyoming, Don Hardy spent most of his teen years living one block away from the Simpson home in Cody. After graduating from Cody High, Don joined the U.S. Navy and served aboard a destroyer in the Mediterranean and the Red Sea.  Upon returning home, he attended Casper College in Wyoming on a music scholarship.  An inquisitive mind led to a budding career as a radio and television reporter, and Don became news director for a television station in Montana. After Al Simpson was elected to the U.S. Senate, Don accepted Simpson's offer to join him in Washington, D.C. as press secretary. He rose to become chief of staff, managing the Senator's official and political activities and staff in both the capitol and Wyoming. Upon Simpson's retirement from the Senate, the Smithsonian Institution selected Don as director of government relations and senior policy advisor. In late 1999, Don retired from the Smithsonian to travel the world full time and soon became engaged in humanitarian efforts with his wife, Rebecca. The two were in the Caribbean aboard their sail-boat home, S/V Pioneer, when Simpson contacted them in 2005 about writing his book.
